As a Bozeman native and long-time resident, I have followed the City's trajectory for over half a century and for the past 25 years I have been directly engaged in the local government planning process for both the City and County. During this time I have both worked with Jennifer directly and observed her many contributions to the well-being of our community. Jennifer is an ideal candidate for the City Commission. She has been fully involved in local government for decades, and her effective leadership as Planning Director for Gallatin County provides her with a deep understanding of the strained relationship between the County and City. She is thus in a unique position to help repair this important partnership. Her experience as staff in the regional office of US Senator Tester provides her with another unique and important qualification; her working knowledge of federal and state programs that affect citizens and cities alike would bring this valuable knowledge to the administration of the City of Bozeman. As a Bozeman resident Jennifer has also been an engaged citizen, as set forth in her letter of interest dated September 29th. She is truly dedicated to the betterment of our common good, and is a full participant in our civic project. She is bright, engaging, evenhanded, fair minded, hard working, and trustworthy. She will treat staff properly and be responsive to the concerns of the citizenry. You have an impressive list of applicants; several with significant qualitifcations, and some who have run for this office unsuccessfully in the past. But given the importance of personal history in and knowledge of local government, long-standing participation in Bozeman civic affairs in terms of both public and private sector experience, and a unique balance of strong personal qualifications, impressive experience, and proven leadership, I conclude that Jennifer Madgic is the best candidate to replace Commissioner Mehl. I strongly urge her selection. Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this important appointment.
