Hello Commissioners - This public comment is in support of one of the candidates who isinterested in filling the open seat on the Commission so for the October 7th meeting,
May these comments serve to enthusiastically support Christopher Coburn who has submitted
his interest for the open seat on the Bozeman City Commission. I have had the pleasure ofworking with and knowing Christopher since he moved to Bozeman in a variety of capacities:
through his work, serving alongside him on the Gallatin City-County Board of Health, throughhis advocacy and through his friendship.
Christopher is a rare individual who can work to build consensus among disparate audiences
and stakeholders, even when issues are thorny. He has done this repeatedly on the Board ofHealth, especially through the COVID-19 response, not being afraid to take up unpopular
positions to do what is right for public health. He also is a tireless advocate for keepingpopulations healthy and has taken the leadership on several health promotion activities -
including 5210+ Gallatin - aiming to bolster worksite wellness activities.
As a person of color who also represents the LGBTQ community, Christopher will ensure thatall voices are heard and are at the table for city initiatives. He has helped his employer to
promote better diversity in its messaging and its training and will be a positive lens for the cityas well. In my humble opinion, he will add a breath of fresh air to the Commission at a time
when our community and our country need more voices like his.
