RE: COMMUNITY PLAN UPDATE
DATE: OCTOBER 5, 2020
On August 25, 2020 the City Commission passed Resolution of Intent No. 5132 initiating the
public process to adopt the August 10, 2020 Planning Board draft plan. Subsequently, the
Commission directed staff to hold public work sessions on the text, future land use map, and
other related content of the draft Plan anticipating adoption of the Plan.
A mailing was sent to all property owners whose future land use designation is subject to
change by the draft plan. One thousand seven hundred forty-nine property owners received
the post card. Staff has received numerous calls based on this notification.
Staff conducted a virtual work session on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 to summarize the
text of the Plan. Approximately 35 individuals attended the meeting and asked questions. A
full recording of the proceedings can be reviewed on the Community Plan project web page
under the schedule.
The second of the three meeting was held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 to discuss the
future land use map. Approximately 45 individuals attended the meeting and asked questions.
The recording of the meeting can be reviewed as described above.
The final work session was held on Wednesday, September 30. This work session was billed
as a follow discussion to address unanswered questions and topics of interest based on the
information gleaned from the first two meetings. Approximately 28 individuals attended the
meeting. The recording of the meeting can be reviewed as described above.
The Commission will begin substantive discussions on the draft Plan on Tuesday, October 6
and continue on October 20th. Based on the comments heard the Plan may be revised in
preparation of public adoption hearings scheduled for November.
