To whom it may concern,
In regards to the application submitted by a Ms. Erin Smith,
I am submitting my comment in support of Ms. Erin Smith and her desire to run for, and work for the city of
Bozeman and its constituents as its new City Commissioner. Ms. Smith, I believe, has exemplarily
qualifications in regards to the role of city commissioner. Ms. Smith is an college educated individual with a
masters degree in Sustainable Food Systems. She has spent the beginnings of her professional career in
academia at Montana State University, as well as the service sector of Bozeman's vibrant tourist economy.
Each of these revenue generating sources in Bozeman are a major contributor to this cities success. Ms.
Smith, has gained many life experiences from these professional endeavors, and spoken at length with
community members within these professional industries on what matters to them as our city continues to
grow and change. All of Ms. Smith's professional qualities and community ideals, go hand in hand with
Bozeman's Strategic Plan for the future. As a resident of Downtown Bozeman, Ms. Smith knows just as well
as anyone the importance of affordable housing within our community and will strive to make housing
affordable for all residents, including those that work within our tourist industry. As a recipient of a Masters
Degree in Sustainable Food Systems, Ms. Smith is well versed in the need for responsible climate action in
our valley's growing community, to help preserve the public lands and farming culture that grew this
community in the first place. Ms. Smith looks forward for a sustainable future for all our residents. As a
service industry working class individual, Ms. Smith understands the importance of Property Tax Relief/Tax
Fairness, in giving a chance for all of Bozeman's residents across the income spectrum to climb the
economic ladder and make a lasting home in Bozeman. I believe that Ms. Smith exemplifies the qualities
established in Bozeman cities code of ethics handbook and her professional experience has lead her to act
on those principles within her everyday life. Her integrity and leadership has been showcased in her abilities
to work within the University system and guide her fellow graduates towards their advanced degrees within
the lab systems of the university. Her community service and teamwork qualities are shown everyday in
Ms. Smith's professional work within Bozeman's service industry working with countless other working class
Bozemanites to help grow our city and welcome all that come to visit. I believe that Ms. Smith will make an
excellent candidate for City Commissioner.
