RECOMMENDATION: Accept Mayor Chris Mehl’s resignation effective at 5:00pm,
Wednesday, September 9, 2020. BACKGROUND: On September 9, 2020, Mayor Chris Mehl resigned from office. Mayor Mehl’s letter of resignation is attached. The purpose of this agenda item is for the Commission to
formally accept the resignation. By approving this consent item the Commission will formally
accept Chris Mehl’s resignation. FISCAL EFFECTS: None identified.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the Commission.

Dear City Managery Mihelich:
It’s been an honor to serve Bozeman for more than ten years, and I thank the voters for that repeated opportunity. Icare deeply about our community. While I was working to be a proactive and prepared representative under the citycharter, other commissioners do not see it that way.
Bozeman has many challenges before it, and I don’t want to disrupt critical work on behalf of the citizens. I havework to do myself. I also look forward to serving Bozeman in other ways.
This resignation is effective as of 5pm Wednesday, September 9, 2020.
