SUBJECT: Resolution Number 5213, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA,
CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF POLICE OFFICERS IN
ACCORDANCE WITH MONTANA CODE ANNOTATED 7-32-4108
AND 7-32-4113.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve Resolution Number 5213.
STRATEGIC PLAN: This item falls under section 3.1 of the City’s strategic plan, where part
“e” describes implementing staffing for police. This items also falls under section 7.2, where it
describes recruiting well-trained, qualified employees.
BACKGROUND: Section 7-32-4108, Montana Code Annotated, provides that all
appointments to the “police force” must be confirmed by the city council or commission.
Section 7-32-4113, Montana Code Annotated, requires that in order to be submitted to the City
Commission for confirmation, every applicant will have passed an examination and received a
certificate from the police commission noting that the applicant has qualified for appointment.
Additionally, the applicant must successfully complete a probationary period before being
submitted to the City Commission for confirmation as a member of the “police force.”
Officers Brett Logan and Kyle Hodges have both met the above-noted requirements and have
successfully completed their probationary period. As such, Resolution Number 5213 was written
to confirm the appointment of these officers.

RESOLUTION NO. 5213
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF POLICE OFFICERS IN
ACCORDANCE WITH MONTANA CODE ANNOTATED 7-32-4108 AND 7-32-4113.
WHEREAS, Section 7-32-4108, Montana Code Annotated, provides that all appointments
to the “police force” must be confirmed by the city council or commission; and
WHEREAS, the following listed officers have passed the required examinations, have
been certified by the Police Commission, have successfully completed the probationary period,
and have been appointed to the City’s police force by the chief of police.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of
Bozeman, Montana: that the following listed officers are confirmed as members of the Bozeman
Police Department.

PASSED, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED by the City Commission of the City of
Bozeman, Montana, at a regular session thereof held on the 15th day of September, 2020.
