Dear Commissioners:
On behalf of the thousands of Bozeman residents who voted to elect Chris Mehl as Mayor, I urge you to not remove
Mayor Mehl from office. Such decisions should be made by the voters of Bozeman.
Mayor Mehl has served the City of Bozeman for many years. His leadership has led to significant advancements in
economic development, smart growth, transportation, affordable housing, climate change, parks and trails, equity,
parking, and a host of other issues. In fact, we would be hard-pressed to identify an issue where Mayor Mehl has not
made important contributions. He is, by far, the most dedicated public servant I have ever met.
The recently-disclosed allegations of the Mayor’s behavior are serious and warrant attention. But removal from
office is too extreme and the commission should not overturn the will of the voters.
