Meet the Bozeman Task Force, Powerful Events andMore! Date:Friday, August 21, 2020 5:42:57 PM SUMMER, 2020 BOZEMAN FOR CEDAW INITIATIVE Cities for the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and Girls https://www.facebook.com/bozemanforcedaw/ Why a Bozeman for CEDAW? There is a continued need to protect and expand the human rights of allwomen and girls by addressing discrimination in educational, political, economic and cultural areas. Byadopting an Ordinance or Resolution based on the principles of CEDAW (the Convention on theElimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women) to effectively monitor and end both subtle andsubstantial gender discrimination, the City of Bozeman will continue Montana’s tradition of history-making decisions that support women and girl’s advancement and empowerment. Dear Defenders of Bozeman’s Women and Girls Human Rights, We hope this finds you safe and well. While it has been a few monthssince our last communique, we have been very busy with the creation of and recruitment for our new Bozeman Task Force on the Status and Safety of All Women and Girls. More on that momentous step forward below and we also want to highlight several events we and alliedorganizations have organized that help support our goals! These are all free events, everyone is welcome and all are maintaining COVID safety protocols. Welcome to the Bozeman Task Force! Launched virtually in conjunction with the National Equal Pay Day Commemoration at City Hall on May 23, 2020, Mayor Chris Mehl endorsed and pledged the City’s support of our efforts based on the 2019 Bozeman Report and Recommendations to create a community–led task forcethat will “…provide research, advice and education on gender-related issues such as pay equity, discrimination, healthcare outcomes and violence to advance fair and equitable outcomes for all women and girls in our community.” – Mayor Mehl. This is due to you - our thousands of Bozeman Community supporters! Thank you. We are enthused by the community response to the Bozeman Task Force, which is as diverse a group of people as possible in our small community. We look forward to using our different experiences andbackgrounds to create solution oriented recommendations addressing problems that have existed for far too long.
