To whom it may concern:
We must have a mail ballot election this November. Members of the public should not have to
risk their health during a pandemic to exercise their democratic right to vote. Any thought tothe contrary is silencing and disenfranchising the sacred contract this country is built on: every
voice matters. Everyone has the right to vote. Making it harder to vote, especially under thesestrange and disastrous circumstances is a threat to the values we ALL hold dear: faith in
democracy and fairness.
Please consider these additional points:
Mail ballot elections protect public health. Allowing Montanans to engage in our
democracy while social distancing is critical to protecting our elections and our public
health. The registered active voters that receive a ballot will be able to vote from the comfort of their own homes. This is especially important for elderly and other at-risk voters.
Mail ballot elections are a good choice for Gallatin County. Not only are these elections
more cost effective, they help reduce the demand for in-person services. During a time when election judges and volunteers can be difficult to recruit and social distancing
requirements can place a strain on polling places, a mail ballot election makes sense for voters and the county
Thank you,
