Dornberger - Planning Board - Community Plan CommentsFrom:Laura Dornberger To:Agenda Subject:Planning Board - Community Plan Comments Date:Tuesday, July 21, 2020 4:52:19 PM The following are comments directed to the Planning Board with regard to the Draft Community Plan: (Single Family Housing) Pg 16 N-1.3 Think this should be eliminated or rewritten. The goal is not to eliminate single family housing but to design it into the appropriate developments which creates a neighborhood with diverse housing types. If you could choose what type of housing you want to live in what would it be? I would guess most people desire a single family house when they can afford it, thus why would our goal be to eliminate that. Pg 41 1. Urban Neighborhood – I like the title of this zoning and how it’s used except that it is written to eliminate single family housing. Single family housing is a huge market and the city should not turn its back on it. It is the most desired type of housing and should be stated as such in this document. The description on this page does not support any R-1, R-2 or R-3 but these are listed as zoning under this designation. At the same time it might be appropriate that the UDC allow some commercial uses within R-1, R-2 & R-3 to support the overall goals of diverse neighborhoods.
