Perlstein - Flood Plain Management at Creekside w regards to old growth treeFrom:DAVID PERLSTEIN To:Chris Mehl; Agenda; Greg Sullivan; Cyndy Andrus Cc:City Desk Subject:Flood Plain Management at Creekside w regards to old growth tree Date:Saturday, July 18, 2020 8:52:25 AM 6 years ago I wrote a letter to City Engineering and the City of Bozeman w regards to tree concern at Creekside Park. It was ignored. Nothing was done to try and save it. Lucky nobody got hurt. I’m unsure why these letters and notes get ignored. I had an arborist look at that tree and sent there opinion. I’vehad so many professional opinions forwarded with all the ‘ills’ on this city property (incl one from FEMA). I have photos of the what the city had done w that creek in the 1980’s w no permits. I showed your current floodplain manager who challenged me to show him the photos. Challenged! After I did, he never ever responded to myletters. What’s it going to take? You wanna take care of parks, then do it. You wanna show love to nature and water, thendo it! This is across from City Hall and this crazy 90 degree turns into the creek is insane and a threat to many issuesfrom nature to life safety. What is the plan to remove the tree?Is this the moment the City could lead and finally address all the problems at Creekside Park? It’s time to promotebeautification, nature, and safety.
