Dear City Council Members,
I firmly believe mask wearing is the most simple, affordable, and effective method to stop the coronavirus
from causing further damage to the health and economic well being of Bozeman citizens. I understand that
mask wearing has become our politically polarized country's scapegoat; I understand that for certain groups
mask wearing is a health risk (people with disabilities, young children). Nevertheless, mask wearing in public
must be mandated. It is a problem that COVID 19 cases in the Gallatin Valley are skyrocketing because of
our negligence. It is a problem that local businesses are forced to shut down from fear of fostering
transmission. It is a problem Bozeman citizens are left unemployed because we refuse to step outside our
comfort zones and try something new. It is a problem we bemoan economic downturn when the simple act
of wearing a mask would reverse the curve. Not only is it a problem, but it is our problem. As Montanan's
we are both responsible and capable of solving the issues we create. We are allowing close-mindedness,
hypocrisy, and pettiness to control our interior altruistic motives. I urge you to help each and every one of
us take responsibility for our actions and bodily fluid droplets by mandating mask wearing in public.
