Concisely,accurately, and completely describe the property and alterations with dates. Number the buildings and features to
correlate with the Site Map.
This is a 1 1/2-story house, now used for commercial purposes. It is wood-framed, vernacular in design, and generally
rectangular in plan. The building has a concrete foundation, wide-lap exterior siding, and a side-gable roof surfaced
with asphalt shingles. An interior brick chimney is present. The primary building elevation faces east. It is brick
veneered, and has a full-length, shed-roofed front porch. The porch is supported by paired posts atop high brick bases
The front entry door is a modern metal unit, surrounded by what appears to be infill. An overhead garage door
(original) is at the south end of this elevation.
The east elevation of the house is marked by a long, shed-roofed dormer, running much of the width of the house; it
may or may not be original. A small shed-roofed addition (non-original) near the center of the wall serves as an
enclosed rear porch.
Windows throughout are wood-framed, a mixture of casement and fixed units.

In 1959, A.B. and Maude Chittester and Alton and Mildred Chittester divided a 3.5 acre parcel in Section 31, Township
1 South, Range 6 East into three unequal tracts. They sold one of those, Tract B containing about 1 acre, to Oswold
and Helen Bennett in September 1960. Later that year or in 1961, the Bennetts completed their new house on the
property. At that time, Oswald Bennett was a mechanic with R.M. Huggins Ford Equipment. Once the house was
finished, Bennett started to build a business at the same address. At least into the mid-1960s, he ran Bennett's Tractor
Repair and managed Valley Implement Company at this location.

This is a largely vernacular residence dating from the middle years of the twentieth century. At the time the house was
built, its setting was outside of Bozeman's built-up area, but recent commercial, industrial, and residential development
has largely enveloped the site.
No site-specific historical significance is known to be associated with the building, and the property's integrity has been
diminished by minor alterations, a change in use, and surrounding development. For these reasons, this building is not
eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.

The building retains integrity of location. Integrity of setting has been diminished by incompatible, recent construction
nearby. Other aspects of integrity are largely retained, although minor alterations to the original building have
diminished them slightly.
