I am writing to protest the parking commission’s recommendation to raise residential parking permit fees. Based onthe fact that the parking district fines collected in the residential parking district neighborhoods are $100,000.00, Ifeel some or all of that income should be used to offset the cost of running the district. If this was done there wouldbe no need to increase fees. I notice, especially in the areas around campus there are cases of students parking onlawns because students do not want to pay for parking permits. I feel this practice will increase even more if youraise the permit price. In regard to the decrease in the number of visitor permits sold it could be that when youswitched to an on line only system it became more complicated to quickly register a visitor. A hang tag was mucheasier. I do appreciate the fact that we are able to have a parking district. Please consider using collected fines tohelp maintain the integrity of the districts.
