Greetings, Mr. Mehl -
It has come to my attention the Bozeman Parking Commission is considering increasing the annual fee for anMSU/BHS residential parking permit from $30 to $45.
As a resident of the MSU parking district, who has purchased a parking permit for 23 years, I have not receivednotification for said proposed increase. The only reason I know of the proposed increase is due to notification fromthe University Neighborhood Association (UNA).
These are my concerns about the proposed increase:
* The affected Bozeman residents were not properly notified of the proposed increase; * I think it is unfair and unwise to increase the parking permit fee by 50 percent - especially during the Covidpandemic; and * Before raising the parking permit fees to increase revenue, the Commission should consider utilizing apercentage of the citation fines generated by permit enforcement as an additional source of revenue.
