Good Morning Commissioners
I am writing in opposition to mask wearing being made a city wide or county wide decree, mandate, order
or law. Leave things as they are with all the information out there already on all the stores, newspapers,
highway signs, etc.
If you do decide you must make it a decree, mandate, order or law then you must have an end date. Not
have it just an open ended deal where the folks of the city are not knowing when they will be released.
In our newspaper , in FB comments , there is already language being used to demean or insult anyone who
does not
wear a mask. There is even talk on a hiking website complaining that folks should be wearing a mask on
trails.
Not all citizens who are currently healthy are carriers of the current contagious disease called COVID 19 and
it is wrong to decide we are.
It is an unlawful law to tell our city or any other governmental section of this city or county or state that
each individual has to wear a mask "or else." We DO NOT need Bozemanites spying on each other, turning
each other in to authorities, spewing hateful statements, or being any more unpleasant than some already
are. It is now unpleasant to go in any grocery store because no one smiles, greets any other person
pleasantly. They all dart around looking frantic and unhappy because news media report that everyone
should be afraid and look at all as disease carriers.
In conclusion - I ask you DO NOT make mask wearing mandatory unless people are going to be packed
together and can't get 6 feet away from each other. There is plenty of room in grocery stores to not
breathe on another person.
Just to be walking down a street in the open air and pass another person for a few seconds has been
established as LOW risk. If a person is so scared that by just being out where there are any people around
then that is the person who should stay home. Not telling all that if you leave your house you have to wear
a mask. And who would the mask demanders have policing to arrest or cite or have non mask wearers get a
police record?
No mask mandate
Sincerely,
Carolyn Hopper
