I moved to Montana because I felt a community spirit here like nowhere else I've ever lived.
As I've navigated a discouraging serious illness through my thirties, I have felt bolstered and supported by mychosen hometown.
However, as a now near-disabled-by-illness resident, I am horrified that this same community will not take theSIMPLE, inexpensive steps needed to protect EVERYONE from COVID, which can make even the healthiestamong us disabled or dead.
I do not leave my home for inessential reasons as I am high-risk, but even today I was confronted by an unmaskedDOCTOR. Yesterday, unmasked people outside the hospital. I cannot get my own groceries because even at theCoop, where masks are required, someone had pulled hers down to loudly talk on her cell phone while she camewithin a foot of me.
If we cannot shut down again, please, please require mask wearing in public. It's not about if someone infects me—one person spreads to many, and eventually that poisons the entire community. We're supposed to be in thistogether.
I will not be voting for any commissioners who do not advocate for masks in public.
