Appointment to Cemetery Advisory Board Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Mike Maas, City Clerk SUBJECT: Appointment to the Cemetery Advisory Board MEETING DATE: July 6, 2020 AGENDA TYPE: Action RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to appoint one member, Russ Tuckerman, to the Cemetery Advisory Board with a term ending December 31, 2022. STRATEGIC PLAN: 1.2 Community Engagement: Broaden and deepen engagement of the community in city government, innovating methods for inviting input from the community and stakeholders. BACKGROUND: The Cemetery Advisory Board currently has two vacant positions with terms ending December 31, 2021 and one member with an expired term as of December 31, 2019. Bozeman Municipal Code Section 2.05.660 – Composition. There is created a cemetery board consisting of seven members to be appointed by the City Commission for three year staggered terms. Should a vacancy occur on the board, the city commission shall appoint a new member to complete the term of appointment so vacated. A majority of the members shall be residents of the City, and whenever practicable one member shall be a representative of an active recognized veteran’s group. Bozeman Municipal Code Section 2.05.670. – Organization. The cemetery board shall serve as an advisory board to both the city commission and city administration and, as such, shall be charged with making such investigation and recommendations as requested or deemed necessary for the operation of the cemetery and as required in this division. The board currently has two vacancies and one member whose term expired December 31, 2019. The City Clerk’s Office has received one application, with their relevant qualifications indicated below. 1.
