To:Agenda Subject:West Side Road construction complaint Date:Monday, June 22, 2020 3:42:21 PM Dear Commissioners, This email pertains to the two ongoing roadwork projects: West Durston project and Cottonwood Road project. Among the two projects, the Cottonwood project understandably contains many deep-rootedinterfaces with the new high school infrastructure, and I have no complaints about that project - it makes sense that this project would have a very long duration. However the project on Durston street has been poorly done in every regard, in my opinion. This project has, at multiple and long intervals blocked traffic on Ferguson. To have Ferguson blocked at a time when the next major North-South thoroughfare is also closed (Cottonwood)is a really nice example of bad planning. It's inexcusable, in my view, to allow the Durston project to begin until the Cottonwood project is completed at least to the milestone of allowingtraffic on Cottonwood. The timing of the tear up of the Durston roadway also is a core part of this complaint. Why tear up Durston before winter and impede road access and road qualityfor all those winter months. I object to the bad planning involved in the choice to tear up Durston before winter and cease work, and I object to the work practices of the companydoing the work to close crossings even during times when there is no need for crossings to be closed and for that company's unwillingness to work on weekends to lengthen the impact todrivers and residents. Why should the citizens of your city just blindly accept that these companies are allowed to work so slowly on roads that we need to have access to?! It'sunacceptable - the lack of expediency and the poor timing of this project. Upset Citizen, -John Nelsen
