Site Visitor Name: Sarah LaMoySite Visitor Email: sarahlamoy@gmail.com I moved to Bozeman this January from upstate NY, to work at a small community acupuncture clinic. In the fivemonths since I joined this community, and during the initial period of covid-19 quarantine, I have felt fortunate to behere. I was proud and impressed with the decisions made by local health officials as well as my employers. On apersonal note, my workplace shut down March 16 and for ten weeks I went without a paycheck or any form ofunemployment assistance (since I was a student last year, I didn't qualify). Still, I felt fortunate to be here, given thesafety precautions set in place and the behavior of the Bozeman residents. This past week, as local businesses have removed precautions and restrictions for "phase 2," I have felt otherwise.Last Friday night, my partner and I tried to find a place to relax and eat dinner in town, and ended up having nearpanic-attacks due to the fact that servers in some busy restaurants were not even wearing masks while working --arguably the simplest of safety measures. My clinic reopened June 1 and has been extremely serious about health and safety: we wear masks and providethem, take temperatures, and retain time/space buffers so clients are never exposed to many other people. Ourlivelihoods clearly depend on these actions. And I cannot afford to lose more work, this year. I am writing simply to request that all Bozeman businesses continue mandating the requirement of mask-wearing foremployees. My partner and I will not be patronizing businesses that don't take this precaution, and we'll be goingback to self-isolating as much as we can if the current recklessness continues.
