City of Bozeman,
Montana is one of the most unique states I’ve had the opportunity to experience and the
outdoors here are endless. However, there doesn’t seem to be much of a selection when it
comes to businesses.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy living in the Ruby Valley and seeing nature just out my front door
every day. However, when I decided to become a diver I was concerned that the option might
not be available to me. When I found Sports Cove, I was thrilled and couldn’t wait for the two
hour drive to Bozeman for my lessons! My husband and I both became certified divers and
purchased all our dive gear from Steve at Sports Cove. We’ve gone with their dive group to
Helena and Yellowstone to further our new found skills. Beyond that, we’ve enjoyed diving in
The Bahamas and Jamaica. Luckily, we can fill our tanks and have our gear inspected with
Steve! What would we do without Sports Cove? I really don’t know but the thought of not
diving again is extremely upsetting and we can’t dive without air in our tanks!
This has been an incredibly hard time for small businesses but I’m excited to see things return
to some form of their old selves. Recently I was informed that my beloved dive shop is in
jeopardy of closing because of the recent closures caused by the pandemic. Unfortunately, it
seems that without the time at the public pool, Steve and Sports Cove continue to struggle.
This is challenging to understand because I know this virus isn’t being transmitted under
water.
I’m writing to ask you to please allow Steve to use the pool for training purposes. Our dive
shop is so important, not only because I enjoy it, but because lives depend on it. I’ve seen our
rescue divers in action and our community needs them.
Thank you,
Melissa Rowberry
