Re: Sports Cove Dive Shop
Dear Mayor Andrus and Commissioners,
My name is Kirk Bierschenk and I am a resident of Bozeman for nine years. I am writing to briefly provide personal testimony withrespect to the importance (to me- and my friends in the dive community) of a particular small business in Bozeman; Sports Cove DiveShop. One of the first people I met when I moved to Bozeman was Steve Lantz. Curious about diving, I stopped in his shop, and as Ifulfilled the requirements to learn to dive, and got to know Steve, I was fortunate to be able to also get involved in the large divecommunity in our city, and the Bozeman community in general! It was a great initiation to Bozeman! One of the things that providedcredibility for me in terms of working with this business, was Steve’s professionalism and longevity in the business and community (35years!) including his volunteer work with the Gallatin County Search and Rescue Dive team.
Steve recently let me know that the pandemic is impacting his business in a big way. Specifically, he badly needs the recreationdepartment in Bozeman to work with him to provide rented hours to he and Sports Cove, so he can provide training to his clients- getpaid, and stay in business. Not providing flexibility to Steve in this could mean the demise of his business- which would be a big blow tothe Bozeman Scuba Community and to Bozeman. I respectfully ask you to give this your consideration.
Sincerely,
Kirk D. Bierschenk1627 W. Main, Suite 272Bozeman, MT 59715
