First Name Andrea Last Name Hamre Email Address ahamre@gmail.com Phone Number Not answered Comments I am a resident of Bozeman, and strongly support shifting resources from policing to public health and community engagement. Please prioritize de-escalation, use of force reforms, and all the reforms from Eight Can't Wait: https://8cantwait.org/ The proposed budget for FY 2021 allocates over 32% to policing. Black and Indigenous people are overpoliced in Bozeman and across Montana. Indigenous folks are murdered at twice the rate of white people by police. Black people disproportionately fill jails in Gallatin County. All the while, addiction and homelessness go under addressed across Bozeman. Bozeman does not support this budget. Over 400 have emailed expressing concern about the budget. In just 2 weeks, over 50 businesses have committed to support ongoing anti-racism work in Bozeman. And 5,000 demonstrated on June 5th. Many, many more haven’t gotten a chance to share their voice. We request that the Bozeman City Commission significantly reduces the police budget and instead fund initiatives that address the root of harm.
