HI Chris! Thank you for all you are doing to support the COVID restrictions/statewide
support for opening up slowly and thoughtfully.
I have frequented two of my favorite eating establishments in the last 3 days - both for takeout. No employee handling food in either place was wearing a mask. They work shoulder to
shoulder (think Jimmy Johns) and whereas the biggest step we can take to minimize spread ofCOVID is the 6 foot distancing, it seems illogical that food handlers are not required to wear
masks. COVID is spread via droplet and for all of the concerns out there to limit the spread ofthis, it doesn't appear there are any restriction for food handling and food handlers sputtering
conversations to be dripping into our food. My understanding is that in most cities (ie. Seattle, Missoula) the mask wearing far exceeds
what we here in Bozeman are willing to do for safety. This is a comment on our culture notour city. And complacency.
I admire the big box stores and local businesses who are requiring face masks of their
employees and even moreso those who are enforcing it with the customers. But even their riskto transmit is less than what seems a food handlers ability to spread it.
Just thoughts from a local. Not even sure you would have any authority to change it but the
fact that some businesses will do the bare minimum (human nature)...it may be that they needstricter guidelines.
Thanks for the listening moment.
