I would like to express my support for the application by Blackwood Groves to annex the site south of Alder
Creek Dr. into the city and to rezone it for residential and commercial development. We all know the city
will continue to grow generating the need for additional housing and the site is a logical place for
development. Also as a long time resident of south Bozeman I believe allowing some commercial in
residential areas is beneficial since local access to commercial facilities like restaurants, fitness facilities,
cafes, professional offices and other small businesses in a walkable community setting reduces the need for
car travel and its associated traffic and environmental impacts and makes for happier and healthier
residents. I understand the concerns of some current Alder Creek residents of potential impacts to open
space/views/traffic etc. but I trust the city planners will ensure the developer develops the property to
mitigate these impacts. My experience with other developments in South Bozeman is that they have
enhanced, not reduced, my quality of life and the value of my house. For example I often walk to patronize
the businesses of the Kagy Korner area commercial developments and make great use of the trail system
expansion provided by the Sundance Springs subdivision.
