HomeMy WebLinkAboutProject Narrative 5-29-20Project Narrative: This addition seeks to add living space to the existing home. We want to add this space because my elderly father wants to transition to a smaller living space on his current property and maintain some semblance of independent living. Adding this addition to the home will allow him to continue to live on the property that he and my mother purchased and built their ‘forever’ home on, while also accommodating his advancing age. It will also allow space for my husband and I to also live on the property with my father and help care for both him as he continues to age and the property. We are proposing the addition of a 1,204 sq. foot attached separate living space that will have its own kitchen, living area, bathrooms (2) and bedrooms (2) (alternative uses for one bedroom would be as office space). We are also adding garage parking to ensure that cars/lawn and snow equipment can be stored securely at the residence. Parking at the Residence The current house has 4 bedrooms and two parking spaces in the garage with room for additional parking in the driveway. The addition will add 2 bedrooms to the existing house. An additional 2 car garage will be added giving the residence 4 garage stalls total and additional parking in the driveway will remain the same. Window Building Materials The exterior of the windows and doors will be framed with a 1x6 along the top and 1x4s along the sides and bottom. These frames will be painted white to match the trim of the existing home. The window frames themselves (in the interior of the walls) will be double 2x10s on the sides and a 2x6 along the bottom. The windows will be Andersen A100 series vinyl composite windows and the cut sheets have been included. The transparency information is included on the image that is names “Glass Specs for Andersen A100 Windows and Doors 5-29-20”.
