I called the Gallatin County Health Dpt. hotline a few weeks ago but would like to also email
in my question to the commision. I confirmed with the Health Dpt. that if somebody were tobe in Montana for either work or pleasure and subsequently test positive for coronavirus while
here in our state they would not be counted as a positive Covid case in Montana but rather intheir home state regardless of the fact that they may stay here a few more days or weeks or go
back to their home state right away. The Health Department had no additional resources orguidelines to follow up with my concern.
This lack of informing the public that there is indeed a rising number of Covid cases here in
our state gives us false security and denies us full access to data. While we continued to toutthat we had zero new cases for weeks in a row we actually had positive cases HERE that were
from folks that primarily live elsewhere.
We need to have some sort of data available to the people that additionally shows positiveCovid test cases in our county from folks that are here temporarily rather it be for work,
pleasure, visiting their second home, etc.
