Subject: Icon Apartment Homes at Ferguson Farms
Legal Description: Being an Amended Plat of Lot 3A, Minor Subdivision No. 365
Situated in the SW ¼ of Section 10, T. 2 S., R. 5 E., P.M.M.
In the City of Bozeman, Gallatin County, Montana
Dear Ms. Waterton,
Referencing your email received November 4, 2019 concerning the evaluation of the subject subdivision:
Bozeman Public Schools would expect that the creation of 336 apartment units could generate the
following number of students.
¨ Pre-K to 5th 20 Students
¨ 6th to 8th 10 Students
¨ 9th to 12th 13 Students
As of this date, the proposed development will be in the Hyalite Elementary School, Sacajawea Middle
School and Gallatin High School attendance areas. Our elementary schools are nearing capacity, and the
added enrolment for the proposed development may likely necessitate the need for Elementary #9. This
need would be dependent on the successful passage of a future bond initiative for the design and
construction for the needed school. The recent addition and expansion at Sacajawea Middle School will
accommodate the proposed enrolment increase at the middle school level, as will the development of
Gallatin High School, which is currently underway and scheduled to open prior to the start of school in the
Fall of 2020.
Population growth and demographic shifts in the future may necessitate boundary realignments to existing
schools, which could modify the designated attending schools. Similarly, if a designated school attendance
area’s student population exceeds the school’s capacity, attendance at an alternate school may be
required.
Infrastructure, such as sidewalks, should be constructed for the entire project irrespective of when actual
homes are developed to provide a Safe Route to School pathway for students to safely traverse the
proposed developed and existing roadways.
Our existing bus system can accommodate the estimated number of additional students. Please let us
know if there are any changes to the proposed development as this could modify the above student
projections.
