RE: Application Number 20145: Special Use Permit for the proposed Warming Center at 2015 Wheat Drive.
Dear Commissioners--
Please support the Special Use Permit Application Number 20145 for the proposed Warming Center at
2015 Wheat Drive. I have worked for several years with the current Warming Center on Industrial Drive and
am well familiar with the serious inadequacy of that building, in terms of available beds and general safety
of use. The proposed Warming Center at 2015 Wheat Drive will involve renovations that will significantly
increase the numbers of homeless served, as well as provide a better space for daytime use and the
provision of social services and medical care, currently very difficult in the Industrial Drive building. This
proposed Warming Center on Wheat Drive is consistent with the other temporary residential properties in
the neighborhood, i.e. several motels, and will provide a very valuable community service. Thank you for
your consideration.
