Dear Mayor Mehl,
I am a resident of Alder Creek and am concerned about the zoning change requests between 3rd and 19th south ofAlder Creek.
My understanding is the zoning change that you are meeting about tomorrow night is for REMU zoning directlyadjacent to the Alder Creek Development. I am not against this proposal and agree with the cities desire to move inthe direction of more self sufficient walkable neighborhoods.
With this development however traffic control measures on 11th avenue and Alder Creek Drive will need to beaddressed to maintain the safety, integrity and property values. Alder Creek Park is an integral part of thisneighborhood that is used by all ages. It is one of the main things that attracted our family to our home, and a keyelement to maintaining quality of life. Uncontrolled traffic (the 15 mph speed limit is almost completely ignored)through the neighborhood would make park accessibility unsafe and essential cut the park off from the half theneighborhood.
I have been told that there may be requests for zoning changes just south of the current plan under review tocommercial and industrial. I don’t feel this would be appropriate land use and feel that there would be no measuresthat could protect us from drastic decrease in property values and quality of life.
