My anecdotal evidence is that the local culture is on the cusp of either buying into this or not. I think you could perform a valuable public service by asking residents to wear a mask in public. Most people most of the time tune out any but the simplest messaging. I think the most powerful message on masking would simply state that wearing a mask offers vital insurance to local employees and businesses. I think you should get that message out through whatever means you can. I also think that the greatest risk we are running at present comes from visitors. It would be great if one of those across-the-street downtown banners could be put together in the next couple of days. For my idea of what it should say, see the attached. Similar “signage” at the airport would be even more terrific, though obviously the ball is in others’ court on that.
