Hello Bozeman Climate Partners,
I hope this email find you well and that you are managing through these
extraordinary and difficult circumstances.
With all non-essential City of Bozeman meetings cancelled until further notice,we will not be convening next week for our monthly Bozeman Climate Partners
meeting. While we can’t meet as a group, be assured that Heather and I arecontinuing important work focused on the Bozeman Climate Plan update, the
emissions inventory update, and city-utility coordination. If you have thecapacity, here are some ways to stay engaged on local climate issues in the
coming weeks:
· The Montana Climate Solutions Council is continuing to accept
comments on the draft Montana Climate Solutions Plan through April
24, 2020. The draft document, updates, webinars, and all commentsreceived to-date are available for review
at: https://deq.mt.gov/Climate. Comments may be submitted by email
to ClimateCouncil@mt.gov. All comments received will be made
available for public review.
· Though Earth Day events over the next two weeks will be much different
than planned, there are still plenty of opportunities to participate remotely! Thein-person festival will now take place October 17. Thank you Gallatin ValleyEarth Day volunteers! Learn more by exploring the Gallatin Valley Earth Daywebsite.
· The Bozeman CleanUp Day hosted by the Bozeman Beautification
Advisory Board that was scheduled for Saturday, April 25 has been cancelled.BBAB will reschedule an official cleanup day in the future. However, in the
interim if you wish to clean up your neighborhood this spring, Solid Waste hasoffered supplies. Please reach out to Solid Waste at 406.582.3236 to get set up.
In addition, here are some city-wide updates and resources that you might find
useful:
· A finalist for the City Manager position has been selected. His name is Jeff
Mihelich. He is the Deputy City Manager and Chief Operating Officer for theCity of Fort Collins, Colorado. Jeff rose to the top in an applicant pool of 83qualified people! Please read about Jeff in the press release sent out yesterday. He will interview with select city staff as well as a panel of communitymembers. The City Commission will hold a public meeting to discuss thefinalist for city manager on April 20, 2020.
· The City of Bozeman’s departments of Economic Development and
Strategic Services have been working on making two new online resourcesavailable to support business and provide a new way for communities to
support their local economy.
· City of Bozeman service updates and changes due to COVID-19
· The Healthy Gallatin webpage is updated daily with accurate local
information
· Face Coverings – facts and tips from the CDC and “Do’s and Don’ts” made
by our Gallatin County COVID-19 Joint Information Center
· Stick to it: Please continue to stay vigilant with surface and hand hygiene.
Wear your face coverings in public spaces away from home. Social distancing
is still the most effective way to prevent the spread of this disease in ourcommunity. It’s been a long road, and folks are starting to feel restless. It’s not
time to let up yet!
Be well and take care,
