Dear Commissioners:
I am writing to enthusiastically support HRDC’s Bridger View Redevelopment application to create
affordable housing next to the Story Mill Community Park in Bozeman. If created, this new infill
project will emphasize walking and biking by including a network of public access easements
throughout the site. It is also located directly adjacent to Bozeman’s Main Street to the Mountains
trail system, enhancing connectivity on the east side of town.
Gallatin Valley Land Trust’s (GVLT) mission is to connect people, communities, and open lands
through conservation of working farms and ranches, healthy rivers, and wildlife habitat, and the
creation of trails in and around the Gallatin Valley. Together with our partners, GVLT has created a
trail network that stretches over 80 miles across our valley, providing recreational and alternative
transportation opportunities for residents in and around Bozeman.
The proposed pedestrian and bicycle paths at Bridger View will expand options for connecting Story
Mill Community Park, the Path to the “M” and Drinking Horse Mountain, and the Story Mill Spur trail.
These iconic trails were created for the benefit of the people of Bozeman. This important
development provides a way for middle income residents of the Gallatin Valley to be able to live
near the incredible amenities which organizations like GVLT and the Trust for Public Land work so
hard to create.
I urge you to support the Preliminary Plat and Planned Unit Development (PUD) applications for the
Bridger View Redevelopment project. Thank you for considering this important infill project that
would provide Bozeman with much needed housing and important connectivity. Please let me know
if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Matt Parsons
