I hope you will still accept my comments about the buildings planned for Bozeman's so-called
Opportunity Zone: The Aviator Building and Site-Z. I thought I had until May 5th to getcomments to you. I am sorry.
I disapprove of the Aviator Building's concept completely. How such a building could bebuilt within a so-called Opportunity Zone is beyond me. It also does not fit with our town. It
might fit in with the kind of architecture that's found wherever the developer is from, but itsure doesn't fit in Bozeman. It's ugly, ridiculous, pretentious, and wasteful. Heating such a
building in a cold climate will be wasteful and cost a fortune, meaning who will be able toafford the rent for their business. Rent for small businesses are already outrageous in
Bozeman. Having such a ridiculous building in town will make us the laughing stock of thestate and region! I'm also at pains to see how such an architectural style fits in with our rural
and mountainous area. I'm also horrified to think that the developer in an Opportunity Zone,of all places, would be allowed to display such wealth and extravagance in an area that was
funded by federal bailout money. Clearly Opportunity Zones are nothing more thanopportunities for crooks to take public funds for private gain. How that area of Bozeman
became an Opportunity Zone anyway is beyond me. Bozeman doesn't need any OpportunityZones: we're awash in developers ready to buy up property at all costs and to develop every
square inch of the valley. Who proposed an Opportunity Zone for Bozeman? Must have beenRep. Gianforte or Sen. Daines. Also, please no more 170 car parking lots. This is ridiculous.
The whole project is a joke. Site Z is a more modest operation. I have no problem with that building going forward.
Sincerely,Carol Rydell
