I. Project Background
1-1. Introduction
The right of way for Competition Drive was created as part of the J.C. Billion AutoPlaza Subdivision in 1993
located in Section 9,T2S, R5E, PMM in Bozeman,Gallatin County, Montana. The proposed main extension will
bring extend the existing water main within Competition Drive to the west edge of the 1.C. Billion Auto Plaza
Subdivision. The water main will not have any new hydrants or service connections, the main is only being
extended since the street is being extended to the west boundary of the subdivision.
Since the proposed main extension does not include any services or hydrants, only background information
will be provided. The proposed water infrastructure will be connected to the public water system owned and
maintained by the City of Bozeman.
1-2. Soil and Groundwater
The NRCS Soil Survey identifies one major soil types on the proposed subdivision: Meadowcreek Loam(51.0B).
This soil belongs to hydrologic soil group C, it is comprised primarily of loams and silt loams with slow to
moderate infiltration rates. A geotechnical investigation was conducted by C&H Engineering on August 301h,
2017 which found static water levels at 6.5 feet below existing grade in the test pits.
1-3. Land Use
The pre-development land use on the proposed subdivision is right of way.
1-4. Design Standards
All sanitary sewer mains, water mains, service connections, and appurtenances will be designed and
constructed in accordance with the Montana Public Works Standard Specifications(MPWSS), 6`'Edition;City
of Bozeman Design Standards and Specifications Policy(including all Addenda), March 2004;City of Bozeman
Modifications to the MPWSS, March 2011;the Montana Department of Environmental Quality(MDEQ) Design
Circulars DEQ-1 and DEQ-2,and any additional addenda thereof. The City of Bozeman will assume operation
and maintenance of the wastewater and water systems and appurtenances upon construction and acceptance
of the installation.
Il. Water System
II-1. Projected Usage
No new usage is projected.
III-2. Hydraulic Analysis
No hydraulic analysis was completed since no new services or hydrants are proposed.
III-3. Water Distribution System
Approximately 90`of 8"Class 51 Ductile Iron Pipe is anticipated for the main extension.
111-4. Service Connections
There are no planned service connections.
III. Conclusion
The analysis and calculations included in this report demonstrate that the proposed designs for water
provision, including fire flow, and wastewater disposal satisfy state and local design requirements.
