In my role as Northern Rockies Director for The Trust for Public Land, I had the honor of working with my colleagues, Maddy Pope, Molly Pickall, and the late Alex Diekmann, to re-envision the future of the Story Mill property, including the formerBridger View trailer park. Together with the City of Bozeman, The Kendeda Fund, Human Resources Development Council, and countless community volunteers, we collectively envisioned a better ending to what had been a sad, sad tale, complete withgreedy developer villains evicting 99 vulnerable families from their homes.
Thankfully, we get to write another chapter.
At long last, we have a plan for a new type of development—one that ensures that our nurses, firefighters, teachers and other middle-income community members will have opportunities for permanent affordability within Bozeman city limits. And ofcourse, these homes will be adjacent to one of the most beautiful parks west of the Mississippi, the Story Mill Community Park.
I urge you—in these times of struggle for so many in this community—to approve the development of Bridger View, and give this sad tale the happy ending this community deserves.
