Good morning Chris, Armory Hotel. Acoutics issue. Placing mechanical equipment on the lower roof will produce a
24/7 hum for street level pedestrians and nearby businesses.
Really sets the stage for why we/City need acoustical requirements for all buildings. Mechanical equipment noise
can be controlled by appropriate insulation and equipment choices. As we move toward more
residential/commercial interface, persistent background noise creates stressful living environment. While working
on MSU Cobleigh hall I had to push design engineers to specify, install chillers which had lower decibel fans
overlooking adjacent neighborhoods on east side of campus. Many cities have had well-written enforceable acoustic
guidelines for over 30 yrs. We need similar.
I didn't send letter to all commissioners as don't need adverse feedback from hotel folk.
Let me if anything I can do. Good luck.
George
