Res 5160 Authorizing CO No 3 to Cottonwood Rd Babcock to Durston Proj Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Bob Murray, Project Engineer Shawn Kohtz, City Engineer SUBJECT: Resolution 5160 authorizing Change Order No. 3 to the Cottonwood Road from Babcock to Durston Project. MEETING DATE: April 6, 2020 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent RECOMMENDATION: Approve Resolution 5160 authorizing Change Order No. 3 to the Cottonwood Road from Babcock to Durston Project. BACKGROUND: Attached is a copy of resolution 5160 and change order number 3 for the above referenced project. This change order contains two items, one is an addition and the other a deduction. The addition is to add Field Adjustable Wattage Selectors and shields where needed to the LED street lights on the project. This will allow the lights to be in compliance with the new draft lighting standards that the Commission has endorsed. The deduction is to remove the chip seal from the project. Chip seals have been included in the arterial and collector reconstruction projects where the finished project would include a mixture of old and new asphalt surfaces. In this case with the alternate to reconstruct the existing west lanes being awarded, all of the surfacing will be new and we don’t feel the chip seal is now warranted. There is no change to contract time. The final recommended change in cost and time for these items is reasonable and commensurate with the work involved. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission. FISCAL EFFECTS: This change order decreases the contract amount by $43,813.00 from $5,150,299.50 to $5,106,486.50.
