I am a Gallatin county resident who is concerned with his local government is not doing enough to keep its citizenssafe. Below is an excerpt from a friend’s Facebook post. I think it offers real insight into the average working peoplewho are seeking your leadership but feel completely unguided, confused, and unsupported. Now is the time to act,not later this week. Now. The big business this employee works for does not care about the safety of the employeeor public health, they only care about the bottom line. If they did they would not have him working in theseconditions. This is reality. Therefore it is up to you, now, to act and stop this nonsense.
‘Today, I reluctantly go back to work. Ya know money and bills... Anyhow, as many of you may know, I work at agas station. I stock shelves, cashier, etc... today I personally rang up 180 people. Now out of these 180 people Ideemed maybe 5 transactions to be “essential” transactions. For example, gas or milk. The rest were mind-blowing.(Names changed to protect the stupid) Sharon still came in for her morning coffee and donut. Joe still stopped in forhis energy drink and pack of cigarettes. Little Joey and Billy still rode their scooters down for a thing of gummyworms and a fountain pop. All-day long all I could think is WHY? Why am I here? Why am I threatening my ownlife and others so these people can get “snacks”? Sure gasoline might be essential. That doesn’t mean the inside ofthe store needs to be open. Your donut surely isn’t essential Sharon. Paying at the pump is still an option for fuel.Should I be thankful I have a source of income? I know a lot of people lost their jobs recently. I do appreciate apaycheck. But at what cost? Is it really all worth it? Should I walk away for the time being? I can’t really afford to.Or should I continue to be a reason this curve doesn’t flatten quickly???’
