GREATER GALLATIN HOMELESS ACTION COALITION
March 23, 2020
TO: Members of the Bozeman City Commission
RE: Letter of Support from GGHAC
Safety improvements necessary for the Warming Center's new location on Wheat Drive
Dear City Commissioners,
On behalf of the Greater Gallatin Homeless Action Coalition (GGHAC), we wish to submit a letter
supporting a proposal of a grant to fully fund the $296,520 in required improvements for a larger
Warming Center location on Wheat Drive in Bozeman. This has been recommended to fund in full by the
Director of Community Development's office and Community Affordable Housing Advisory Board
(CAHAB).
GGHAC is composed of a large group of non-profit organizations, local and state representatives,
veterans, and concerned individuals who work to positively impact the lives of those experiencing
homelessness in our area. We have seen first hand the challenges that the lack of affordable housing in
the Gallatin Valley has created in the efforts of the homeless to secure permanent housing.
We attached with this letter the results of the most recent survey of our homeless population, taken the
last week of January of this year. The new Warming Center proposed for Wheat Drive would
accommodate up to 120 people and provide an increased number of safe, clean shower, laundry, and
sleeping facilities. Our hopes are that this Warming Center would be available during day hours and an
extended season for nighttime hours. Your support would provide that opportunity.
GGHAC remains committed to working with the HRDC, the City of Bozeman, CAHAB, and our partner
agencies to find opportunities which will end homelessness in our community. Your support of this grant
brings us a step closer.
Sincerely,
On behalf of GGHAC
