Taylor, Interim City Manager James Henderson, Human Resources Director SUBJECT: Work Session to Determine the List of Semi-Finalists for the City Manager MEETING DATE: March 9, 2020 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Executive Session RECOMMENDATION: Determine the privacy interests of candidates for the vacant city manager position outweigh the public’s right to know regarding their candidacy. If so, we recommend closing the meeting to review these candidates and to select semifinalists for next steps. BACKGROUND: Joshua Jones, recruiter for CPS-HR has selected for presentation to the Commission a group of candidates for the position of city manager. Through the initial review process these candidates have expressed a privacy interest in their candidacy at this stage of the process. The candidates understand that should they be selected as finalists the public will be informed of their candidacy. During this meeting, Mr. Jones will present his recommendations for the top 9 candidates. These 9, once selected, will be considered “semifinalists.” Commissioners will have the opportunity to review Mr. Jones’ recommendations and determine which candidates are to be chosen as finalists. Once finalists are selected they will be invited to participate in interviews in early April. If a candidate accepts the invitation to participate as a finalist their name will be released to the public. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: No unresolved issues.
