Architectural Description
Property Name: 1006 W MAIN ST Site Number: 088 ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION Architectural Style: Other (specify) If Other, specify: Post Modern/Neo Formalist Property Type: Healthcare Facility Specific Property Type: b2 UrgentCare Architect: Unknown Architectural Firm/City/State: Unknown Builder/Contractor: Unknown Company/City/State: Unknown Source of Information: N/A This property consists of one architectural feature: a 1.5-story commercial building built in 1983, with an expansion built c. 1995. The building as a whole has a roughly rectangular plan with a concrete foundation. The building is wood-framed. The north half of the building is single story; the addition to the rear adds a partial second story with a gabled roof clad in asphalt shingles. The original portion of the building is brick faced and exhibits characteristics of Neo Formalism, with a low, flat roof, broad overhanging eaves, banks of curtain wall windows, and ornamental pierced concrete-block window screens. However, these design elements are modest in application and would not constitute a “high-style” example of Modernist architecture. The south addition, with its steeply-pitched side-gabled roof is a complete departure, aesthetically. It is brick-faced, with synthetic stucco on the upper story. The primary entrance to the building is located on the southeast corner, at-grade and recessed beneath a projecting eave supported by two square, brick-faced columns. An additional entrance is located on the southwest corner, at grade. Two entrances are located within curtain walls of windows at the northwest corner and northeast corners, as well, on the north façade. However, landscaping indicates that these original entrances are no longer in use. The south half of the property is a paved parking area with landscaping around the perimeter. Flag poles stand at the southeast corner of the building, accentuating the primary entrance. Mature trees and shrubs are planted around the property. Overall, the site is in excellent condition, though the addition has affected the building’s original character.

History of Property
Property Name: 1006 W MAIN ST Site Number: 088
HISTORY OF PROPERTY According to property records, this building was completed in 1983. The gable-roofed addition was built c. 1995 and does appear in
aerial imagery from that date. It has served as a commercial property. Property records indicate that for some of its history, it was used as an office building. The property is in excellent condition and has experienced modifications over time, chiefly the addition to the
south and the abandonment of what were likely the original entrances on the north façade. This property has no known historic associations. A cursory search provided no historical context for the site. Furthermore, 1006 W Main Street in Bozeman, Montana was built in 1983 and has not yet reached the fifty year threshold for consideration as a historic property.

Integrity

INTEGRITY (location, design, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling, association)
Changes have occurred, such as the painting of exterior brick. Most notable, however, is the addition to the south side of the building. It is distinctly different in style and some of its materials, setting it apart from the original building affecting, to some extent, the
original character of the building.
