I’d like to oppose the parking district initiative. Put simply you run on making this town affordable yet find
ways to charge home owners in every avenue. Options that I believe are not being used correctly such as
the parking garage which won’t let you pay for more time and are being leased, should be being used too
generate revenue so we can build another parking garage. Better yet make all lots downtown pay parking
first and see how much money it generates? If a clear plan is
adding parking in the core then stop allowing new builders opportunities to escape parking needs and
instead put fees associated with needed spaces towards the funding for new parking garages. Please don’t
charge the surrounding neighborhoods, give this time and find a better alternative. If a goal is to generate
money than their a host of other options I’d encourage the commission to use the resources of MSU in
more things involved in city planning, embolden yourselves to make desicions and not waste more of our
money on consulting fees.
