Marty,
I am writing this letter in response to application 19410 or the Armory Hotel project. This project will be a
tremendous asset and economic boom to Downtown Bozeman. I currently operate and own the Rocking
R Bar at 211 E. Main St. I also own the building that the Rocking R Bar is located in, known as the F & H
Building.
When we came together as a community to get the downtown parking garage built our number one goal
was to provide parking for our downtown businesses, closely followed by attracting full service hotel, and
to spur economic development in the Downtown Buisness District. I am happy to say the Amory Hotel
was the first project to happen as a result of the parking garage.
In my mind the Downtown Business District is getting a double win with the Armory Hotel. The original
Armory was a Fredrick Wilson design and was in complete dis-repair. The Armory Hotel not only fulfilled
our original goal of a full service hotel but also saved a important part of Bozeman's history.
As somebody that has been part of Bozeman since 1981 I am proud of what Downtown Bozeman has
become. The Armory Hotel is going to be an important part of its future. I fully believe the current
application should be approved. To put any further economic conditions on this application would be
unwarranted.
Sincerely,
Mike Hope
