Subject: Proposed Parking District

Dear City Commission,
I am concerned about the proposed parking permit district and respectfully request that you do not approve it.
As I understand it, such a permitting system would put yet another financial burden on individual home owners that
live close to downtown. I suspect this is being prompted by all the new luxury condo developments being built in
the area. If parking is feared to be at a premium, then the obvious answer is to require that any new developments
include parking on its premises to accommodate the concomitant influx of new neighbors with additional vehicles
and trailers that will need to park somewhere. It is patently unfair and unnecessarily aggressive to force a parking
competition with people who already live here.
A permitting district would not solve any parking issue. However, it would unduly tax individual homeowners in the
forms of additional fees and inconvenience.
Thank you for NOT supporting this ill-founded parking permit district proposal with questionable motives.
