Dear Mayor Mehl,
Thank you for working hard to make Bozeman a better place and for making climate change a high priority for thecity. I deeply appreciate that the City of Bozeman's resolution on December 16, 2019, setting strong greenhouse gasreduction goals.
Passing that resolution was a great start, but in order to create effective change, climate change needs to be made atop 5 priority for the City of Bozeman. Climate change imperils the economic foundation of our community. Ifemissions are not brought down in a significant way, quickly, the $7 billion dollar tourism industry that is Montana'slargest economic driver, will be threatened. Without significant efforts to rein in greenhouse gases, warmertemperatures and less snowfall will result in serious losses for our fly fishing industry, outdoor winter recreationindustry, our agriculture, and our health. Just one example was the closing of the Yellowstone River in 2016, whichwas estimated to have cost Park County up to $524,000 in economic loss.
Please make climate change and greenhouse gas reductions one of the City of Bozeman's top priorities for 2020.
Thank you,Anne Ready
