Effective public transportation is a key element to Bozeman's future livability, affordability, and
sustainability. Profesionally, I work with and support transportation planning initiatives (mostly at a
statewide level). In grad school, I completed several projects with Pittsburgh's regional transit
agency related to ridership and operations. I currently serve as a member of the City of Bozeman
Planning Board, where I've been an advocate for aligning development and density with future
transit corridors. I believe that my skills and experience would be an asset to the Streamline Advisory
Board as it plans for and manages this important regional service.
Special Skills or Qualifications
Summarize special skills and qualifications you have acquired from employment, previous volunteer
work, or through other activities, including hobbies or sports. (i.e., administration, fundraising, grant
writing, etc.)
Previous Volunteer Experience
Summarize your previous volunteer experience.
Conflict Management
Please describe a time when you disagreed with a fellow board member or a co-worker. How did you
handle it? Did you every feel you needed to quit or leave a board or similar non-profit organization
due to a conflict? If so, please describe the situation and how you resolved it.
I am currently a volunteer member of several City of Bozeman citizen advisory
boards. I volunteer regularly with GVLT (both as a member of its NextGen Advisory
Board, and in support of its various trail development activities) and have volunteered
with or supported many other organizations across the community.
As an outspoken and opinionated individual, I frequently disagree with fellow board
members on other boards. As a professional and adult, however, I've discovered that
relationships are far more important than facts and have learned how to disagree in a
positive and collaborative manner. For example, in a recent Parking Commission
meeting, I led a motion overriding a staff recommendation. After the meeting, I spoke
with the staff member, affirmed our shared vision for the future (this particular item not
withstanding), and discussed how we work collaboratively (rather than at odds) on
future action items.
Professionally, I support transportation planning activites with data analytics. I'm handy with making maps,
crunching numbers, and technology. I possess a fairly detailed understanding of the internal workings of
the City of Bozeman, and some knowledge of the operational aspects of transit agencies. More broadly,
I'm a policy wonk, urbanist, and transit junky—and I constantly keep an eye on what's happening with
transit in peer communities and nationally.
