Director’s Report
January 21, 2020
STREAMLINE:
MDT Grant Application: Our allocation for FY2020-2021 is $1,236,777 for the 5311 Operating Grant and
$163,789 in TransAde (State) funds. That is an increase in the Streamline operating funds of over $86,000
but a reduction in TransAde of nearly $47,000 to the Galavan budget. Over the next month we will be
updating the projected budget for next fiscal year and translating that into MDT’s format. The grant
application is due March 1, 2020.
MSU Campus Shuttle Update: A soft launch will happen the week of the 20th with the full service to begin
January 27th. There will be 15-minute frequency during peak hours in the morning and afternoon, and mid-
day will have 30-minute service to the Nopper building in Tech Park to provide more access for MSU’s
administrative staff. We have leased two 15 passenger buses to provide this service.
Redesign Streamline 2020: This is the official name of the route redesign project! There is now a dedicated
page on the Streamline website under the “About” tab. This is where the public will be directed to stay up
to date on the progress of Redesign Streamline 2020. We have also added a new funding partner, Bozeman
Health has committed $10,000! We continue to work with TMD to complete the evaluation of existing
conditions, then we can begin to plan to engage the public more directly.
Fleet Condition: (see attached) Major Takeaways: We now have 2 spare buses, giving us a little breathing
room. The 4 El Dorado “Easy Rider” transit buses are expected to arrive this fall, we’ll know more after the
pre-build meeting on January 22nd.

GALAVAN:
Friends of Galavan: We have received two sponsorships from this effort so far. The Gilhousen Family
Foundation is a Gold Sponsor ($2,500) and the Yellowstone Club Community Foundation is a Silver Sponsor
($1,000). We will continue to reach out to others asking them to become Friends of Galavan by partnering
and supporting the paratransit services. Their support of ongoing operational expenses will help Galavan
continue to address the transportation needs in Gallatin County.
Presentations to Funders: Soon grant proposals to Gallatin County, Area IV Agency on Aging, and United
Way will be submitted, and will be followed with presentations to each. I invite anyone interested to
attend and show Board support of Galavan. These funding sources are essential to the Galavan budget and
it is our opportunity to make the case of how important Galavan is to those who rely on our services. I will
let everyone know when the presentations are scheduled.
November/December Rides: Galavan added 28 new customers and gave 3,721 rides in 48 days with a staff
of 5 full-time and 3 part-time drivers to residents of Bozeman, Belgrade, and Three Forks. 42% of the rides
provided were for medical appointments such as dialysis, cancer treatment, and various other
appointments. Employment rides made up 30%, Social 19%, and Meals made up 9%.
Fleet Condition: (see attached) Major Takeaways: Bus 16 was just involved in a minor traffic incident with
very little damage and is being scheduled for repairs.
