UTILITY NOTES
NO TREES TO BE PLANTED WITHIN 10 FEET OF SEWER MAINS
THE DEPTH OF THIS SEWER LINE IS UNDER 5 FEET DEEP ELIMINATING THE
NEED FOR TRENCH BOXES OR SHORING DURING EXCAVATION. THIS
ALLOWS FOR SIGNIFICANTLY LESS WORKING ROOM FOR EXCAVATION
AND THE STORAGE OF SPOILS. SEE NOTE FROM OSHA BELOW.

Trench Safety Measures
Trenches 5 feet (1.5 meters) deep or greater
require a protective system unless the excavation
is made entirely in stable rock. If less than 5 feet
deep, a competent person may determine that a
protective system is not required.
SEWER FROM MAIN IN IDA AVE TO HOUSE
THE EXISTING SEWER THAT SERVICED THE HOUSE THAT HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THIS
SITE IS TO BE RETAINED AND REUSED FROM THE MAIN IN IDA AVE. TO THE PROPERTY
LINE. A RECORD OF A CAMERA INSPECTION MUST BE PROVIDED TO THE CITY
WATER/SEWER DEPT. TO VERIFY THAT THE CONDITION OF THE EXISTING LINE TO BE
REUSED IS OK ON A DVD OR THUMB DRIVE. A NEW 4" DIAM SCHEDULE 40 SEWER LINE IS
TO BE INSTALLED FROM THE PROPERTY LINE TO THE NEW HOUSE AS SHOWN ON THE
SITE PLAN.
WATER LINES
HOUSE
THE EXISTING WATER SUPPLY FROM THE MAIN IN IDA AVE. IS TO BE RETAINED PLUS THE EXISTING
CURB BOX. INSTALL A NEW WATER LINE FROM THE CURB BOX TO THE HOUSE.
ALL WATER LINES MUST BE 6'- 6" DEEP.
COTTAGE
THE 1" DIAM CLEAR CORE COTTAGE WATER SUPPLY CONNECTING INTO THE HOUSE SUPPLY MUST
BE 6'- 6" DEEP. SINCE THE SEWER LINE IS ONLY 4' DEEP IT MAKES SENSE TO DIG A SEPARATE
VERY NARROW TRENCH FOR THE WATER LINE. BEING FLEXIBLE AND CONTINUOUS THE WATER
LINE CAN BE PLACED IN THE TRENCH FROM ABOVE WITHOUT HAVING TO HAVE A PERSON IN THE
TRENCH THUS ELIMINATING THE NEED FOR THE HUGE AMOUNT OF EXCAVATION NEEDED FOR
TRENCH BOXES.
