Taylor, Interim City Manager James Henderson, Human Resources Director SUBJECT: Discuss desired traits for the City Manager recruitment with CPS-HR consultant, Joshua Jones. MEETING DATE: January 13, 2020 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Action RECOMMENDATION: Give consultant direction on creating a profile of desired characteristics for the next City Manager of Bozeman. SUGGESTED MOTION: I move to authorize the Interim City Manager to approve the City Manager Profile and to work with CPS-HR to begin advertising the City Manager position. BACKGROUND: On Monday, December 2, 2019, City Manager Surratt informed the City Commission of her acceptance of a position as city manager in another city. CPS-HR has been retained to conduct the search for our next City Manager. The recruiter from CPS-HR would like to meet with the Commission to ascertain the desired characteristics for the position. On January 14, 2020, Joshua Jones will conduct stakeholder meetings with individual Commissioners, representatives from all 4 unions at the City of Bozeman, department directors, and members of City Management .The purpose of these meetings is to get input from all stakeholders to create a complete profile. The position profile will contain at minimum: • Key responsibilities, • Required attributes and qualifications, • Salary range, and • Community information UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None identified.
